Tell us more about being Aish Das Padihari?

I am a System Integration Manager by profession. Started my career with Accenture, USA some 9 years back. Quit the firm and joined a start-up last year – the best decision ever. I am passionate about – Running, Reading, Shoes, Bags, Traveling, Coffee, and Wine and of course Food Photography. Currently living in California with my family.

How & why did this food blogging started for you?

While growing up, I was tagging along with my dad more than I spent time with my mom, so, no wonder, I grew up tom boyish with very little experience in kitchen. I got married into a family who loves to eat, especially, my husband who is a foodie in the true sense of the word. After my marriage, I moved to USA and then I realized that, there is no escape from cooking – there is no domestic help here whatsoever nor neighbors/friends who will show up with platters of food every alternate day. But soon I started enjoying cooking and entertaining.

As for food blogging, my husband is the inspiration behind it. He had been telling me for years now to document and showcase my cooking skills. I finally listened to him. J

Who has been your inspiration and how did you reinvent your recipes?

As for the support goes, I give all the credit to my husband. As for inspiration, I’m being inspired by each compliment I receive, each visit my site receives, each message my friends send me either praising or nudging me to do better, each technical support I receive from my well-wishers – far and near. But most importantly, my Maa. She is an amazing cook and she cooks from the heart. If I can create something that tastes half as good as her food, I would know that, I’m doing something right.

Your struggles and high points in this journey?

Struggles and challenges have been constantly there. Biggest so far is, mastering the techniques of food photography. I’m learning every day.

There have been many high points – Winning recipe contests to friends and family trying my recipes out.Tackling each challenge makes me better and, each high point makes me more motivated to stick on.

How old is your blog and where do you want to take this passion of yours?

I started my blog in Nov 2015, but actively focused on it from January 2016.

Neither I’m after commercial success nor after numbers. I just want to photograph and write on as long as I can. I’m passionate about it and telling stories around food, makes me genuinely happy.

What are some important things a new food blogger should keep in mind as per you?

Authenticity and honesty. You can’t go far by cheating.

What keeps you going in this highly competitive domain?

By not comparing myself with others and keep focusing on what I’m doing.

Thank Aish for sharing your journey with us and we look forward to your yummilicious journey ahead.
